Turkey’s Historic Humanitarian Support and Current Response to Syrian Refugee Crisis Highlighted in Interactive Photography Exhibition

The opening reception for the Turkey Safe Harbor: Restoring Hope photography exhibition was an unprecedented success. This timely exhibition highlighted Turkey’s role in responding to the massive human flow of refugees coming out of Syria; as well as its historical role helping many ethnic groups from throughout the Middle East and beyond.

Turkey as a Safe Harbor

The exhibit showcases the experiences of millions of refugees who have come to Turkey to escape war, famine and strife. Currently, over 1.6 million Syrian refugees are living in Turkey in camps that provide food, shelter, healthcare, and above all safety. It chronicles their experiences as they recover from their grief and slowly begin to piece together a new life, learning new skills while they wait for peace in their own lands or find a home somewhere else.
