No: 157, 06 June 2012, Press Release by Turkish MFA Regarding The Incidents On The Joint Border Between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Vaşington Büyükelçiliği 07.06.2012

We observe with great sorrow and concern that the incidents which occurred and resulted in the loss of lives on the contact line in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan have spread to the joint border of the two countries.

The recent regrettable incidents causing loss of life have once more indicated the serious and irrevocable consequences of the lack of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The continuation of the status quo in the region that stands on a delicate and fragile balances does not serve the interest of any parties but only deepens the scars.

We reiterate our call to the relevant parties to act with common sense, to avoid using force and to take the necessary steps for the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

In this context, Turkey will resolutely continue its efforts on various platforms towards the full and comprehensive normalization in the region.
