No: 130, 10 May 2012, Press Release Regarding the Bomb Attack in Damascus

Turkey is deeply saddened by the bomb attack that took place in Damascus today and the ensuing loss of lives. We strongly condemn this attack which led to the death of civilians and is in no way acceptable.

It is Turkey’s genuine wish that the violence and bloodshed in Syria come to an immediate end and the legitimate demands of the Syrian people are met as soon as possible.

It is utterly important that a genuine will is displayed for the realization of this objective and that a sincere endeavor is exerted towards the full implementation of the Annan plan instead of pretentious steps designed for gaining time and procrastination.

We candidly share the sorrows of our Syrian brethren. May God have mercy on those who lost their lives. We wish a speedy recovery for those wounded. It is our sincere wish that the real perpetrators of this attack are apprehended as soon as possible and that such sufferings are never to be repeated.
