"We commend the U.S. House of Representatives for avoiding a divisive and counterproductive debate on H.Res.252.

"I want to thank all of the members of the House who worked steadfastly for this wise course of action.

"By not considering this groundless and ill-conceived resolution which raised false and unproven charges, the House of Representatives has taken the right approach to a highly controversial issue.

"I also want to express my gratitude for President Obama, Secretary Clinton and other prominent American voices who argued persuasively against the potential House action.

"As decades-long friends and allies, Turkey and the U.S. will continue to work for global peace, prosperity and stability."
