Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Hanukkah Message

Vaşington Büyükelçiliği 03.12.2010

Unofficial translation

I wholeheartedly celebrate the Hanukkah Festival, one of the holy festivals of our Jewish citizens.

I wish the festival brings prosperity to all the Jewish people on earth and that the festival activities, which will last for eight days, proceed in peace and happiness.

For centuries, our land has been a place where tolerance, dialogue and conciliation are praised; like a rainbow, different colors have come together in harmony on this geography.

No group, congregation, minority group has been ill-treated due to their beliefs, ideas or lifestyle.

Throughout its history, this country has been the best and strongest example of the understanding of different beliefs and cultures living together in peace.

With these thoughts, I celebrate our Jewish citizens’ Hanukkah Festival and wish that Hanukkah brings well-being and happiness to all our Jewish citizens.
